A preoperative nurse has reviewed your health history.
Please call 248-265-4612 if you have any questions prior to your day of surgery.
Please notify your surgeon and the center if there are any changes to your health prior to your surgery. Examples include a positive COVID test, fever, shortness of breath, cough, sore throat, and vomiting.
You will need to arrange for a responsible adult to accompany you to the center, stay at the center during your surgery, and drive you home when you are discharged. Discharge instructions will be reviewed with you and your responsible party prior to your discharge.
You will be unable to drive for a minimum of 24 hours after your surgery. Your surgeon may extend this depending on your surgery.
Prepare your home, meals, and transportation well in advance of your surgery.
You will receive a call from the center the day before your surgery between the hours of 4-5pm. Monday surgery’s will receive a call on the Friday before your surgery.
You cannot have any solid food after midnight the night before your surgery. Clear liquids are recommended up to 3 hours prior to your arrival. A clear, carbohydrate-rich clear liquid is also recommended up to 3 hours prior to your arrival. Examples include 100% white grape juice with no added sugar, Gatorade, or Ensure Clear.
Shower with an antibacterial soap, or as directed by your surgeon, the night before or the morning of your surgery.
Upon arrival to the center, you’ll need to have a picture ID (Drivers License), and your current insurance card for registration.
For women, you may be asked for a urine sample prior to your surgery. Please let someone know if you need to use the restroom while in the waiting room. If there is any possibility of pregnancy, please notify your surgeon and the center.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that can accommodate a large dressing, brace, boot, or arm sling.
Leave all valuables at home. All jewelry, body piercings, and contact lens must be removed prior to your surgery.
Take only the medications you are directed to take prior to the surgery. Please contact your surgeon or the center if you have any questions regarding your medication.
I you are diabetic and check your blood sugar regularly please check it within 2 hours of your arrival time.
Bring all medical equipment you’ve been instructed to bring. A Durable Medical Equipment (DME) representative can dispense medical equipment as needed for those who do not receive it before surgery.
Do not shave the surgical site. If necessary, this will be done at the center.
